New Work . . .

Since I almost self-taught in oil painting, and haven't attended any formal art school, there isn't any particular thing to mention. But, if I remember my childhood, I'm always sitting at a desk and scribbling things on small pieces of paper which my dad gave to me. I once wanted to become a cartoonist, but my mother strongly objected to it and made my teacher in junior high persuade me to give it up. I was always caricaturing him as a cricket.

I started oil painting when I entered college, where there was an art club named Kuro-yuri-Kai (named after Japanese black fritillary) which at that time had more than fifty years history. Before then, I had been a member of art club in junior and high school drawing water colors and creating posters.

After graduation, I became a member of Tokyo Kuro-yuri-Kai, which is mainly composed of the alumni of Hokkaido University where I graduated. We have one annual exhibition in downtown Tokyo, and have several separate group exhibitions. The most influential person in my life in arts is a teacher at my high school, who once lent me a book of Dali. The book greatly impacted me as I was captivated by this surrealistic master.

During my college days, I painted rather weird pieces, so that my friends who knew about my old work tell me how drastically I have changed my style in my most recent work. Even after starting my business career, I've participated in the company art club.

Beside oil painting, I do conte drawings of female nudes, or illustration or creation of web pages. In any way, I love painting very much.
